The Saucy African Lasagna Soup

Cozy Lasagna Soup

Serves 4–5

Total Time: 30–35 minutes 

All the flavors of lasagna — in one cozy bowl. A family favorite made easy with The Saucy African Slow-Cooked Tomato Simmer Sauce.

Ingredients
1 × 12 oz jar The Saucy African Slow-Cooked Tomato Simmer Sauce (Chicken or Vegetarian)
1⁄2 lb (680 g) ground beef, turkey, or chicken
8 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
4 cups (950 ml) broth (chicken or vegetable)
1⁄2 cup diced onions
2 Tbsp butter or oil
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
1⁄2 tsp salt (3⁄4 tsp if using Vegetarian Sauce)
1⁄2 cup ricotta cheese (optional)
2 cups spinach (fresh or frozen)
(Optional) The Saucy African Pepper Heat Blend, to taste 

 

Instructions 

  1. Melt butter or heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until soft.
  2. Add ground meat and cook until browned. Remove excess oil if needed.
  3. Stir in The Saucy African Slow-Cooked Tomato Simmer Sauce and simmer for 3 minutes.
  4. Pour in broth and bring to a boil.
  5. Add broken lasagna noodles and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Stir in ricotta cheese and spinach. Simmer another 2–3 minutes until the spinach wilts.
  7. Season with salt and (optional) The Saucy African Pepper Heat Blend.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs or parmesan.
