Ingredients

Vegetarian Simmer Sauce

2 bell peppers (red or yellow), chopped

2 Tbsp oil

½ cup (120 ml) water or vegetable broth

½ tsp salt (optional)

¼ tsp The Saucy African Pepper Heat Blend (optional)
Optional Plant Proteins (choose one or combine)

2–3 cups shredded mushrooms (oyster, portobello, or shiitake)

1–2 cups firm tofu, cubed

Directions
Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Add your plant protein of choice and sauté for 3–5 minutes until lightly browned.
Pour in The Saucy African Slow-Cooked Tomato Simmer Sauce and cook for 3–4 minutes.
Add chopped bell peppers and simmer for 3–5 minutes.
Stir in The Saucy African Pepper Heat Blend if desired.
Cover and simmer for 5–7 minutes until heated through and flavors develop.
